Built between 1803 and 1807 as a summer home for the wealthy rice planter and his family, by 1920 this impressive Federal-style home had become a tenement house. Today, restored to perfection, its luxurious accents including the hand-carved molding, sweeping staircase, and elegant period furnishings capture the lifestyle of the wealthy at that time.
